Blog 14:Behind the Anti-uniform Policy

Why we should be against the uniform policy? Well, there were certain reasons why we needed to be anti-uniform policy. First, it forbade self-expression and individuality of students. The students were not allowed to select their own clothes, and they were forced to conform. This incapability in choosing ones clothes caused students to lose their uniqueness. Second, it caused discipline problem. Some students objected to any rule. Rules in their clothes were particularly intolerable to some. They revised their uniform by lengthening, shortening, widening or heightening their clothes. Tension between students and teachers arose, as the teacher tried to impose, the rules the students also tried to oppose. Lastly, it was not related to academics. Proof was some students were scruffy dressers. There was no doubt that students could learn even if they dress, as they wanted. At the end, it was not with the formal uniform that students were known but with how they took education seriously.

Blog 13: A night of life or death

I could still reminisce in my memory the most tragic experience in my sixteen years of existence here on Earth. It was during a cold, tranquil night that I unconsciously fell asleep on a soft, comfortable bed in a lighted blue room. I was the only one in that room since it was still early for sleeping time. I was having a nice, undisturbed sleep, but suddenly I woke up. In that moment, it seemed that I began to freeze. I could not move any part of my body even my little finger as if something was resisting my body from setting into motion. Aside from that, I could not shout to ask for help for nothing came out from my voice box. With those things, I was already nervous; my face was already sweating and I really did not know what to do. The worst thing aside from not moving and not producing of sound, I could not breathe. I could not grasp any oxygen nor could I not exhale carbon dioxide like something was blocking on my nose as well on my mouth that could not pass air. With those things, I accepted my destiny that it might be the end of my life so I decided instead of struggling; I would just close my eyes and wait until the last part of my life. I thought my life was finished, but surprisingly I woke up in the morning. Then, I just realized it was a nightmare. After that nightmare, I was thankful that God had given me another chance living in this world with my family and friends, and I must not waste what He had given me.

Blog 12: Discovering Atlantis

Hearing the different legends and reading the different dialogues of Plato about the lost island of Atlantis, a fable island in the Atlantic that according to legend sink beneath the sea, is an eagerness to see it so I have come up to an idea that my greatest vacation is to discover the island and experience a new vacation. First, I need to buy a fabulous, gargantuan and newest version of submarine that can pass through the different obstacles that it may encounter during the voyage. Inside it is not the typical submarine interior, but like a modern house with fully equipped kitchen, hi-tech entertainment vicinity, dazzling bathroom, comfortable bedroom, and especially a trustable control room of the submarine that will give me an ambiance of just soothing in a house. After preparing stuffs for the journey, then I will choose a crew for me to have a comfortable voyage in finding the lost island. I opt to get an international chef that can serve me scrumptious foods, a trustworthy captain together with the marine engineer and the other staffs that gives me a tranquil journey, and the mot significant, a very long-suffering personal assistant. Then, the exploring has begun. As the submarine slowly going under the deeper part of the ocean, I have the opportunity to see the creatures on the window in my bedroom. I have seen a school of fishes, nemo-like fishes, scary creatures, the ever-dangerous sharks and the immense whales. The ever-challenging part is finding the exact place of the Atlantis and base on what I have read there is a certain mermaid-like creature that can lead us to the place. In remembering these details, I then realize that I know a sea creature that supports the given description, "dugong". The searching of the creature takes us a longer time, but unexpectedly, the captain has seen a shadow that shapes like a mermaid. As we get closer, it is clear that it is the "dugong", and then, we chase the sea creature. After, the "dugong" brings us to a very strange, dark place, and then rapidly, a light has flashed brightly. Then, I have seen the island of Atlantis and I get out of the submarine wearing a diving suit and having the tank of oxygen. I examine the island’s destroyed statues, classical structures and the different old stuffs of the people who lived there proving a vanished civilization. Around the island are the sea creatures like crabs and various kind of fishes.I get inside in one of the old building; there I have seen artworks like the ruined paintings. I find a tablet with some sort of drawings and I bring the tablet as I get back to the submarine. As we go back to the land, I have been studying the tablet and with the drawings, I understand why the Atlantis is lost. Through my new way of having my vacation, I am able to explain the sinking of Atlantis beneath the sea.

Blog 11: Astronauts’ Voyage


In the year 2024, I have changed my mentality not to seize the trail of being an illustrious manager because if I am going to be in a company surely the other companies will be bankrupted. What I do is I apply as astronaut at National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA there I see my handsome boyfriend. In his black American suit I am flabbergast by his presence as I come across him, with his keen nose, angelic eyes, kissable lips and a very attractive haircut that gives him more attention-grabbing aura, I can say that it is a love at first sight. Fortunately, after applying, I pass and surprisingly he is my partner for my very first mission to the moon. With our white, heavy astronaut suits and headgears just like Sandy, the squirrel in "SpongeBob Squarepants", we condition ourselves for the mission. First, we practice to get used to zero gravity by entering a zero gravity room (as if there is), and there we float at a snail's pace with my willowy body and my feet grabbing for balance. I have been exhausted with those training, but it vanishes as I see him. Then, we have trained not to get woozy by getting inside a machine, a sphere-like, that rotates and revolves us for a couple of minutes. The most important things are to be physically, mentally, and emotionally unwavering. I know that he is physically fit with his six-pack abs and strong muscles. After a long period of preparation, we are equipped to launch the rocket ship into the space. The exact day and the exact time has come for me say these words, "The rocket ship will launch in 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1…BLAST OFF!". Although, we are nervous and excited, we have to set the buttons with our shuddering hands to program where the rocket ship will land, and we need to ensure its condition. After a few minutes, it has escaped the Earth. Then, on the only porthole of the rocket ship, a window four feet high and six feet wide, where the exact place for our brown eyes to see how beautiful the Mother Earth and the space are. With all the tantalizing starts and challenging meteors that may destroy the rocket ship, is hidden emotion of enthusiasm on what will I see on the moon and some kind of low electric volt electric as I touch his soft hands. After a lengthy travel, we can no longer hide our unexplainable feeling as we land on the moon. We abruptly get off the rocket ship, and walk on the rocky surface of the moon searching for the right place to put a flag with our names on the flag to signify that we have came to the moon. Next, we quickly search to the place of the Earth trying to see whether it is true that the only place in the world that can be seen in the moon clearly with our naked eye is the Great Wall of China. In that scene, he startlingly asks me to be his girlfriend. What a romantic time for him to ask that question will all the shinning stars, planet surrounding us, and a calm environment. Then, we return to the rocket ship bringing a sensation of fulfillment, feeling of love all around the corner and having exigent journey going back to Earth. Then, as we travel, swiftly a great force is pulling the rocket ship toward a very dark place, a black hole. In an instance, the rocket ship is in the black hole. We are astonished in what we have seen galaxy inside a black hole. It appears as if the black hole is a portico to another galaxy. We have enough time to observe the other galaxy that we have crossed the threshold. With that incident, instantaneously, we get astound but we need to do something for us to get back to Earth so what I do is I push the emergency button that transfers the rocket ship into the desired place or simply teleport (as if there is already that kind of technology). Then, we are proficient to return to Earth safe and sound. Lastly, we are the first couple who have done something like that on space and have given information about the black hole and inside it.

Blog 10: Communication Through the Years

I just realized that communication now had gone far away from before. Now, with the advancement of technology such as the e-mailing, chatting and using of cell phone, I could not easily express my feelings. Like for example, if I did something wrong then I wanted to apologize by using the cell phone or computer, my apology did not show any sincerity. Next, modern communication was effortless. It was only one text away if I needed to say something to a person. Lastly, it was easy to put in words what I wanted to say. It was because there was nothing to be ashamed for I was not talking personally, and one thing; I might simply lie and say that I was not the one who chatted with someone. Unlike before, I could convey my feelings easily. It might be through writing, which I could put in word my sentiments, or through speaking personally, which I could say my sentiments personally. The communication needed more efforts. It was true since if I would write, I had to make draft and I must rewrite until I would have a clean writing. If I personally talk, I needed to travel or walk if the person I wanted to talk was not beside me. Then, it took courage. Since in writing and saying, it was hard to write or say what I really felt especially if it was from my heart because it was so shameful. With these comparisons, I could say that the communication before was better since it made people understood what I really wanted to say. The communication before might as well lessened the misinterpretation in our community.

Blog 9: Family Transformation


During the technological advancement, many things changed especially the family. The family in this period, which was the simplest unit in society consisting of parents rearing their children, had modernized and had not kept the importance of their relationship with each other.First, instead of eating together in dining room and talking, they relocated and ate at the living room on the T.V. tray. Together with the new member, the T.V., who was only the one, kept on talking while they were just listening. Next, the family members were having a hard time to open up about certain issues. This was because there were hindrances to catch the attention of the family members like the watching of T. V., surfing on internet and playing online games on computer. They did not want to be disturbed in their "own business". Another thing, children did not have bonding moment with their parents because the children were already addicted on online games and all of the stuffs on internet. The children almost did not move away in front of computer or laptop. Sometimes the kids forgot the time, realizing that they were not able to eat on time. The worst thing, the family members got in trouble with each other, their relationship was slowly ruined. Like, the children tend to forget to prioritize study because of the computer games so their parents kept on arguing and scolding them, but the kids ignored it. With this kind of action, children started to disrespect their parents.

Blog 8: Family before the Modernization


The family before the arrival of the newly advance technology especially the television is a group people of common ancestry living in one roof having traditional ways, and having a good relationship with each other. What I mean in traditional ways is helping each other in doing household chores or any activities, and using of extra time for their family. They clean their house together, and play games like board games and ball games during their leisure time to have a bonding moment. Another thing, they care for each other. They do not make a gap among each other by being concern about each other’s action and the happenings in each other’s life. Then, through some sort of opening up with each other about certain issues, the family has established a good relationship among them. This usually happens during the eating time where all of the family members are in the dining room. They eat and talk with each other. With this, parents have the chance to listen to their children about their experience during the entire day while parents have time to share about their past and to give their children important advices and encouraging messages. In addition, through this, each member knows what the problems that the other members are facing and each can help in any means.

Blog 7: Through the Protagonist’s Soreness


The reasons behind the protagonist’s pain (Fil’s pain) that gave him various effects were he was not able to give the dancers a tour at Chicago and a meal at his house, and he accidentally erased his only remembrance. First, all his preparations and hard works had come to nothing. His plans on how he would introduce his self and how he would invite the dancers were doomed. Then, he had low self-esteem. He felt that the dancers did not want to talk to him because of his looks, as what he termed as garbage. Another, even though how hard he tried to catch the attention of the dancers by saying in dialect his invitation, but instead of accepting his request, the dancers refuse and worst, the dancers ignored him as if he did not exist. Lastly, he was depressed. It was not only because of the refusal of his request, but also he fortuitously obliterated the only memory of the dancers he got in his sound mirror. The memory included the recording of the songs and dances of the dancers, which he got from the theater. Aside from those from the dancers, the different sounds that he recorded that were precious to him were also removed such as the conversations he had and the sound of various things.

Blog 6: Darkness of Constitutional Authoritarianism

On September 21, 1972, the exact date when Marcos declared Martial Law, Proclamation No 1082.His main reasons for proclaiming it were “to save the Republic” and “to reform society”, but there were different results from what he expected to have. Primarily, this exploit signaled people for them to start a new fight for sovereignty, not against foreign invaders, but a mad dictator blinded by absolute power. The students took part by taking over the presidential palace after a series of ferocious street battle in Manila, and writers’organization with a programmatic vision for social change came into being. Next, there was an abundance of non-humanitarian movements. Military picked up and detained thousands of Filipinos suspected to treason. Along with them were his critics and political opponents namely Senator Benigno S. Aquino, Jr., Franciso “Soc” Rodrigo and Jose W. Diokno. The captors tortured hundreds of them however others disappeared and never found again. Then, there was censorship. It meant that all the articles in the newspaper or magazines must follow the guidelines given. Under the guidelines, the President, his family and armed forces could not be criticized. Before publishing, armed forces scrutinized the articles. This kind of situation brought as back to the Spanish era, where the friars were the armed forces and Marcos. They did not want to hear something against them while the Filipinos were the Indio, suffering from friars’ acquisitiveness of power.

Blog 5: Suitable Manner in Church



There are certain steps on how to behave properly in church. First, prepare you mindset in getting to church. When you get inside the Church be on time, you must leave all worldly thoughts behind. Then quietly, so as not to agitate others, find a place to stand or sit. Be cautious of what you are doing. Talking and laughing in church, for by this one proves disrepute of God and disturbs others. Chewing gum, drinking and eating in church are impermissible in the church. If your thoughts stray from the prayer, then strive to bring them back and concentrate on the services. You must listen and participate. Listening to the gospels of the Lord and being responsive by responding and singing. Do not watch others pray with suspicious eye. You do not have the right to judge. Be sure to have reverence to Holy Sacrament of the Body and Blood of the Savior. Some of the ways are by practicing of piously bowing your head, and accepting it by saying "Amen". Wait until the end of liturgy. Step aside and stay for the prayer for the thanksgiving. Finally, sing the ending song and leave the church quietly.

Blog 4: How to Exasperate people in Cinema House


There are certain actions to annoy people in cinema house. First thing, be late. Well you obviously stand on an isle trying to find a seat. You need to get the perfect seat even though you can disturb half a row just to get it. Next, ask the person beside you what happen lately. If he does not answer then irritate him by keep on talking about what are the actors doing in the film. Then, if you are already tired talking, then have your food and eat. Make a sound while eating is a good habit especially in the cinema house. If you get bored, then have a nap. Snoring while sleeping makes you comfortable in a cold temperature especially if you are exhausted, and wake up when the film ends. Finally, you stand and comment on the film. Not the positive comments, but the negative, and you can also say that the movie is not worth watching and incomprehensible.

Blog 3: Sadism in a Movie



Violence was widespread in movies, and one of these movies was "Apocalypto".
In the scenes, the bad tribe tortured the other ethnic group. They tied the hands and neck of men members of the ethnic group for them not to getaway, and they sold them as slaves or offerings in their ceremony. Aside from torturing of men, they also raped the women members of the group. They made the women suffered without sufficient force for them to fight back against what they were doing. The most ferocious scene that must not be shown in a movie was the beheading. Some men members served as offerings, and their bodies were being separated form their head. The bad tribe threw the bodies, and the head used in the ceremony, where they threw the head in a slide, and at the end of it were somewhat a massive grave or pile of the heads that had been offered.

Blog 2: The Other Side of Twilight Movie



The Twilight was not actually a good movie for some reasons. First, it was merely different from the real story in the book. Some of the essential scenes in the book were not present in the movie, and there were add on scenes in the movie like Edward Cullen catching the apple, but this scene explained the cover of the Twilight book. Next, the abundance of secondary characters that served no real purpose. There existence might have a point in the sequel of Twilight like Jacob, who was not really having a big role, but in New Moon (Sequel of Twilight), he would be somewhat replacing Edward for a moment. Then, the characters were not able to deliver dialogues that gave impact to the audience. The famous line of Edward in the book, “You are my life now”, had not given emphasis and had not conveyed greatly by the actor in the movie. Perhaps, the most important reason was the chemistry between the leads, but it was not so explosive. There chemistry could be described as a sluggish spark still trying to shine dazzlingly until the end of the movie.

Blog 1: Investing practices in writing


Writing is one of the ways I can express my feelings about certain topics. First, I can write down my vision of a better Philippines which includes the changes on Filipino attitudes and practice. Then another thing, I make my stand about issues like in politics or any problems regarding in our country like corruption and economic crisis.. The best thing, I can show my real personality through writing about what interests me such as the different ideas in Philosophy and the characteristics of people that I like.
When I am assigned to write, I feel sad because of some reasons. I am discouraged due to the comment that my teacher in high school put on my journal that makes me feel that I can never make a good writing. Next, I am not good in organizing ideas, and in making a good title thus making my essay 's ideas incoherent and does not have interesting title . Above all, I feel sad for the reason that I have semi hieroglyphic handwriting and I think that no one will dare to read my writing.
Even though I am not really into writing , I still need to do it for it is a must and during the writing process, I practice certain things to be an effective writer although I am not. I have always with me my dictionary, and thesaurus to have precise words in my essay. Then, I read related articles of the topic to be well informed, and to have more ideas to write. Especially, I practice outlining of ideas, and putting of important thoughts.
This is how I write. I know there are more practices that I need to do regularly in writing to be a better writer, but for now, since I do not know these practices, I just need to write, write, and write.
